Medicare
Prescription Drug Plans
( PDP )

These plans (sometimes called "PDPs") add drug coverage to Original Medicare, some Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare Cost Plans, some Medicare Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) Plans, and Medicare Medical Savings Account (MSA) Plans.

Some Medicare prescription drug plans require you to pay a Part D yearly deductible before it will share the cost of your medications. The fact that a yearly deductible is an out-of-pocket Medicare Part D cost—in addition to the Medicare Part D copays and/or Medicare coinsurance you pay for prescriptions—is often overlooked when comparing out-of-pocket expenses.
